Double Sided Conventional Plates

If you are still using double sided metal plates you may be finding that you are waiting longer than normal to receive them from your current supplier. Or you may not be able to get them at all. The reason is that all but one of the plate manufacturers have discontinued double sided conventional plates and it looks like the one remaining is soon to follow. It is our estimate that within the next couple of months the only double sided conventional plates you will find are the ones that your current supplier already has in their inventory. Our suggestion would be if you use double sided plates order as many as you can find because it won’t be long until they’re no longer available.

Inkjet Computer to Metal Plate for Newspapers

Should you consider using an inkjet based computer to plate system to make plates for your newspaper? That depends, if you are a smaller newspaper that can live with 9-10 plates per hour and run lengths of 50,000 impressions on press it may be the perfect solution. If you are a larger paper that needs much more than 10 plates per hour it just wouldn’t be fast enough to keep up with production.
